Question: Death of the video game cd format ? ps3 / xbox 360 etc?

How long do you think it will be before all video games will be purchased and downloaded online instead of going to a shop and physically buying it ? Its seems music is being downloaded more and being physically bought less, will this be the case with games if so when do you think ? ps - i know certain games are already available for download with all platforms Yeh true, not only this, but trade in this industry will come to an end, if you buy a game worth £50 for example, no longer can you trade it in or sell it, as it is physically not there

It will be during the timeframe of the next platform. Which is a bad thing because (especially with the 360) the customer service is so bad. I have purchased many arcade games for my family on their different profiles and after having the 3 red lights can't play most of them. Microsoft needs to look at itself over the pricing too because there is no way I will pay £20 for a game that I can get on DVD for around £8-£15. The day will come and that unfortunately is when we get totally ripped off by both companies.

It's already happened. The PSP Go doesn't take UMDs. Instead you have to buy and download the games from PSN. I don't know how long it will happen for home operational consoles to do this, because there may be issues with owner companies and such. They may only want to produce disks.
