People just don't understand, because video games have come a LONG way in a short period of time - so there is so much we has a society don't know about. For example, in the Daniel Petric case...they were not blaming his actions on the VIOLENCE of Halo 3, but rather that he had become psychologically addicted to gaming and when his parents took that "fix " away, he went hay-wire. There are also so many more things that we need to look at in his case to positively conclude that he had some sort of mental "fart " but that's besides the point. I think more and more people are looking to psychological effects of video games, more than the effect of the violence. This is actually a big part of psychological research now-a-days. There are believed to be both positive and negative psychological effects of video games. For example, it has been studied that people who play more video games - have an increased ability with their spatial cognition (spatial cognition is what helps you determine where you are physically in relation to other things in the world...for example, if i blind folded you and took you into the woods, you could find your way back home). anyway...to answer your question very simply...YES, i do get pretty upset when people do not know what they are talking about and are quick to blame, especially when it concerns video games |
