Question: What is better for ps3 video games, plasma or lcd?
(Posted by: kk13cball on 2010-01-07 08:18:08)
I am in the market for a 40 "- 46 " hdtv. I am going to be playing PS3 games and watching live soccer on the tv. My biggest fear is motion blur. Any recommendations? |

You should get an LCD television for the ps3. You should, because both the xbox 360 and ps3 were made especially for lcd tv's. Not plasma. |

Hands down if you are very worried about motion blur, the PS3 and soccer will look better on a 1080P plasma. however if you are not careful with your PS3 games you could experience some image retention (which can be fixed via HDTV menu) or worse burn in. Some burn in is fixable via the white screen saver that comes on plasmas. However most people nowadays don't want the hassle of even a chance of burn in so they go with LCD. i suggest going to some stores and looking 60hz LCD, 120hz/ 240hz LCD and then looking at 120hz LED LCD, and also some 1080p Plasmas. it all depends on how much you want to spend and how far you sit from the tv. if you sit too close to a 40 "-46 " doesn't matter if you have plasma or 120hz LED LCD, you won't be happy. In my opinion most people rarely get bothered with motion blur on a 40 "-46 " 60hz LCD, IF, they sit far enough away. My father in law has a 60hz 37 " Samsung and we never have any problems with it. My best friend has a 60hz 46 " Samsung and he never sees any horrible motion blur. But this is because they sit at the proper distance. It's all personal preference. Go to the store and check it out for yourself. |

Well...the best option for your money would be Plasma! Plasma TVs have the highest "native " contrast ratios(40,000:1), giving them the blackest blacks and most vivid and rich looking colors! They also have the fastest response times(.001ms) and fastest refresh rates(600hz). Making them the best at producing the sharpest and smoothest motion. Perfect for fast motion content like sports, movies & gaming! Plasma TV's are also more affordable. More info here: plasma-lcd-facts.co.uk/ Here are my recommendations for you: Panasonic 42 " 1080p(TC-P42S1): amazon.com/ Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P42S1-42-Inch-Plasma/ dp/ B001UE6M8O/ ref= sr_1_2?ie= UTF8 &s= electronics &qid= 1262885779 &sr= 1-2 Panasonic 46 " 1080p(TC-P46S1): amazon.com/ Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P46S1-46-Inch-Plasma/ dp/ B001UAD100/ ref= sr_1_1?ie= UTF8 &s= electronics &qid= 1262885853 &sr= 1-1 Panasonic 42 " 1080p(TC-P42G10): amazon.com/ Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P42G10-42-Inch-Plasma/ dp/ B001UAEWSU/ ref= sr_1_1?ie= UTF8 &s= electronics &qid= 1262885953 &sr= 1-1 Panasonic 46 " 1080p(TC-P46G10): amazon.com/ Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P46G10-46-Inch-Plasma/ dp/ B001UAB40E/ ref= sr_1_1?ie= UTF8 &s= electronics &qid= 1262885897 &sr= 1-1 These are the best performing and most reliable brand HDTVs out there!
